Rebel Relief: How Can I Help?

Getting Through the Coronavirus Crisis Together 

When the University of Mississippi announced March 12 that students would not be returning to campus during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of you reached out to ask how you could help.

This health crisis presents a challenge unlike anything the University has faced in modern times. But the Ole Miss Family is coming together as one to meet it.

So many of you have called and emailed, asking how you can help your University continue to serve the needs of every member of our community.

Ole Miss has already implemented strategies that will help all of us manage this crisis while maintaining academic continuity and support for our Ole Miss Family. You can give to support these existing efforts:

• The Rebel Relief Fund serves the most emergent student needs in the crisis. As the situation evolves daily, we’re committed to responding quickly.
• The Student Emergency Fund, the Food Bank and the University Counseling Center have always helped our students with housing needs, food insecurity and mental health support. Our students will likely rely more heavily on these during the COVID-19 response.
• The Academic Support Fund always helps ensure that our University offers educational excellence. With in-person classes canceled during the outbreak, we’ll rely on this fund to maintain academic continuity by moving to online and virtual classes. Often, these solutions involve additional costs.
• University Health Services serves both students and all Ole Miss employees and has been preparing for the coronavirus for weeks. However, more personal protection equipment – masks, gowns, gloves, etc. – will be needed for Health Services doctors and nurses.

We’re following the Centers for Disease Control recommendations for social distancing in this crisis to keep our community safe. But that doesn’t mean we can’t come together online.

The Rebel Relief campaign will support the University of Mississippi’s commitment to serve every member of our Ole Miss Family and will ensure we get through these times together. Please give and spread the word about this important effort.
