You Can Still Give!

Thank you so much to all of our family, friends and alumni for giving so generously to #TheCaptainsFund campaign. It's not too late to honor Max Miller and support his legacy. Even though our online project has ended, we still gladly accept donations to our permanent fund. As #TheCaptainsFund increases we'll be able to support even more students. Please visit www.umfoundation.com/TheCaptainsFund to give today. Thank you!

Goal Extended!

Thanks to our generous donors, The Captain’s Fund has already exceeded its original goal of $25,000! Janis, Ryan, Patrick and the rest of the Miller family are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support. Because of your generosity, one student will be able to experience Ole Miss in Max’s honor in perpetuity. We have increased our goal to $30,000 to help strengthen the scholarship that will bear Max’s name and to help more students.  With your continued support we will ensure the Captain’s legacy of servant leadership continues on at the University of Mississippi. Help us reach our new goal of $30,000 by spreading the word on social media! #TheCaptainsFund

A Man of Honor

Honor, Respect, Devotion to Duty. These are the core values of the United States Coast Guard. They were also the daily mission of Captain Max R. Miller, Jr as he worked tirelessly for the University of Mississippi for almost two decades.

Having served in the Coast Guard for over 25 years, Capt. Max (as he became affectionately known on campus) applied these principles to every student with whom he had the pleasure of working, every parent for whom he had the pleasure of assisting, and every alumnus with whom he had the pleasure of talking.

 A Man of Devotion

His love of his country was matched by his love for his beloved Ole Miss. He believed his role within the university family was to do something positive for someone else every day and to do so with tact, compassion, and often, anonymity.

He gave so that others might have the chance to pursue their life’s goal of receiving an education at one of the finest academic institutions in the country. In fact, this is what drove him to continue to serve the University of Mississippi in multiple capacities over his years of service. Whether it was in the Financial Aid Office or the Office of the Registrar; whether it was in the Admissions Office or in the Center for Manufacturing Excellence, Capt. Max made sure his service was dedicated to student development and success.

A Man of Duty

Capt. Max recently passed away while serving those students he adored as well as the university that had adopted him as one of their own. The Capt.’s Fund has been created to raise scholarship monies so that his sacrifice might not be forgotten, his devotion might not go unnoticed, and the honor with which he carried out his mission every day might continue to be felt for generations to come.

Please Give

Please give today to the Capt.’s Fund so current and future Ole Miss students can continue to pursue the lifelong dream of a quality education and so that the memory of Captain Miller’s service to Ole Miss can continue to be revered and respected.
