The very health care professionals who take care of us need our care.
While there is an ever-growing need for health care services on our campus, the demands being placed on University Health Services by COVID-19 have never been greater. The doctors, nurses and staff with Health Services at Ole Miss, like health care providers across the globe, are on the front lines of this pandemic.
Gifts to University Health Services will allow the Student Health Center and Employee Health Services to continue to procure personal protective equipment such as masks, gowns, gloves and face shields. This equipment is crucial for the treatment of possible COVID-19 patients. Health Services has been providing free COVID-19 testing to eligible students, faculty and staff, but these tests are costly.
In an effort to maximize efficiency and the number of patients it can serve, Health Services is operating on an appointment-only basis for urgent care and sick visits. The health care workers here have also had to adapt to telemedicine with the limited equipment they have, so additional funds can be used to equip its offices with an updated platform to allow for virtual visits in the future.
Just as the staff at University Health Services praises the resiliency of our students, faculty and staff, we are inspired by our health care providers’ dedication to the Ole Miss family and we know that – with your support – they will continue to be there for us.
