In addition to the international health crisis caused by COVID-19, the pandemic has devastated the economy. As a result, University of Mississippi students, recent graduates and alumni are contending with the most challenging job market in generations.
The UM Career Center is here to provide the University community with the services, resources and networking opportunities necessary to successfully compete in this more demanding environment. With your support, the Career Center will be able to afford technological upgrades required to overcome employment hurdles caused by COVID-19.
The Career Center plans to purchase software needed to create a dynamic virtual career center by organizing resources into digital career communities with high-tech tools. Career resources, services and opportunities will be more visible and accessible to students, alumni and the campus community.
These upgrades, while costly, will enable the Career Center to: serve more students and alumni; provide additional training and support to the center’s staff; and give the center the tools required to use a virtual platform to host large-scale career networking events for students and alumni, which is now necessary due to COVID-19 preventing face-to-face networking events.
With more students and alumni needing the innovative and comprehensive career and professional development services offered by the UM Career Center, additional financial support is critical.
