Last Week to Give!

November 03, 2016

Dear Ole Miss Family and Friends,

Our second annual AmTrykes in Action Race on Sunday, Oct. 2, was a great success. We had eight competing teams. Our relay race consisted of eight-person teams racing their team tricycle 75 laps around The Circle drive in the heart of the Ole Miss campus. The Cycling Club came in first place with a race time of 1 hour, 21minutes, Sigma Chi fraternity came in second place with 1 hour, 23 minutes, and Army ROTC came in third place with 1 hour, 24 minutes. At the end of the race, each team presented their AmTryke tricycle to a grateful veteran.

"I can ride my bicycle again. I can ride relaxed, without being crunched over, and it is easy on my knees. Thank you!"

John Norfolk, retired Army/National Guard

We have raised 77% toward our goal of $10,000. We need your help this week to raise the remaining $2,248 to make it to 100%. For every $850 we raise, we are able to purchase one AmTryke and give it to a deserving veteran. Your involvement and support of this event will help to give veterans independence and a healthier lifestyle. Our community’s contributions to the AmTrykes in Action race will be recognized at the 2016 Ole Miss Football military appreciation game on Nov. 5.

Please join us today and donate to our AmTrykes in Action campaign. In addition to your monetary gift, you can make an impact by becoming a campaign ambassador and sharing our campaign message with your family and friends via email and social media using #AmTrykesInAction.

Sincerely,

Brittney Cable

AmTrykes in Action

October 10, 2016

AmTrykes in Action was a great success on Sunday October 2nd!

The participating teams were able to meet the Veterans they were racing for and the local Girl Scouts Troop said the pledge of allegiance before the race began. We had a lot going and I wanted to take the time to thank those that sponsored and donated, participated, volunteered, and came out to support our Veterans. The race winners were close in time:  The Cycling Club came in 1st place with a time of 1hr 21min, Sigma Chi came in second place with 1hr 23 min, and Army ROTC came in third place with 1hr 24min.

We were excited to see several of our sponsors at the event. Thank you to those that have already sponsored and donated to AmTrykes in Action, we are greatly appreciative. We are now 76% funded and are still working towards our goal of $10,000. There is still time to donate, our campaign will be closing on November 12, 2016. You can find us on the field at the Ole Miss Football Military Appreciation Game November 5, 2016.

A word from a 2016 Veteran Rider:

"I can ride my bicycle again. I can ride relaxed, without being crunched over, and it is easy on my knees. Thank you!"

AmTrykes in Action is This Sunday!

September 30, 2016

AmTrykes in Action is this Sunday!

There is still time to donate! We are 37% towards our goal and are so excited to be able to give ten Veterans their AmTrykes. Come out and support the Veterans receiving the AmTrykes as well as the participants racing. While you are there, enjoy food, fun, games and the raffle table. The race starts at 3pm in the Circle and participant check-in is at 2pm.

I was a recipient of an Ambucs recumbent cycle and received it at the event hosted at Ole Miss.  I have injuries that hinders my movement and energy level. Since I received my cycle I am able ride throughout my community with my service dog.  I enjoy being outside and this cycle has given me the opportunity to return to activity I enjoy.

I want to remind you that the circle will be closed for the race, you may find parking available by the Turner Center and the Overby Center.

We can't wait! See you Sunday!
