Support the Mr. Ole Miss and Miss Ole Miss 'Forward It' Fund

Each year the student body elects two outstanding students as Mr. and Miss Ole Miss to represent the University of Mississippi. In addition to the recognition at halftime of the Homecoming game in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the two are charged with establishing a philanthropy. In tandem with each other and the core values of the university, Cade Slaughter and Lilli Gordon are pursuing a number of impactful fundraising and programming activities within three pillars:

  • Mental Health
  • Fine Arts
  • Literacy

To succeed, Cade and Lilli need your help! Your gifts will help support students, the community and children around the state.

Mental Health

The university offers a number of mental health resources, both institutional and in the form of student groups and organizations. The University Counseling Center serves students, faculty and staff with individual counseling, couples counseling, group counseling, stress management, crisis intervention, assessments and referrals, outreach programs, consultations and substance abuse services. Your contribution to the mental health pillar will be directed to the UCC Fund and help the center continue to provide quality health care to the University community – free of charge!

Fine Arts

The University Museum offers exceptional collections, from Greek and Roman antiquities and Southern folk art to 19th-century scientific instruments. The UM Museum also serves as a cultural center for both Ole Miss and north Mississippi and established a “Free-Admission-for-All” policy to ensure no income barrier of participation for any member of our diverse community. Your contributions to the Fine Arts pillar will fund exhibitions, care of collections, community events, art supplies and so much more.

Literacy

Reading proficiency remains an ever-present issue in Mississippi, as generations continue to fight high illiteracy rates. UM’s Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction supports students, families and educators across Mississippi through several programs. The CELI’s programming seeks to ensure that ALL Mississippi students reach reading proficiency by the end of the third grade. Several programs within CELI promote this mission, including Jumpstart for Young Children and the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. Your contributions to the Literacy pillar will help CELI accomplish its mission.

Meet Lilli Gordon

Lilli is graduating with a degree in biology, with minors in chemistry and history. Originally from Franklin, Tennessee, she hopes to pursue a career working abroad in the dental field, analyzing health care policy on a global level.

“This project is a combination of the passions Cade and I have been able to find during our four years at Ole Miss. These next three months, we hope to celebrate a university that has shaped how we view the world and highlight the people who make this place so exceptional.”

Meet Cade Slaughter

Cade is a senior studying public policy leadership and integrated marketing communications with a minor in general business. From Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he first came to Ole Miss after falling in love with the beauty of the campus and the rich history of the flagship university.

“I am excited about this project because I think it will shine a light on some of the resources and incredible efforts that Ole Miss pursues daily. I am incredibly hopeful that this campaign will raise both funds and awareness for the three pillars Lilli and I want to strengthen and truly remind people that Ole Miss is home.”
