The Lyceum Locker is a school supply closet established in 2021 to support students who have financial needs. Ole Miss students will be welcomed to visit this resource and choose school supplies required for their classes – a calculator, a notebook, a test Scantron and more – discreetly, for free, with no questions asked. 
Classes often call for students to possess several different supplies – which can be expensive – in order to be successful in their courses. All students committed to earning their college degrees deserve to be equipped with the tools for successful completion of their classes. With your help, we’ll keep our shelves stocked to serve these conscientious students with few resources.
UM alumnus Kayla VonBurg (BA 19, MA 21) is one member of the team leading the campaign to help address this need among the Ole Miss student body.
“We know that students with high test scores from low-income households are less likely to graduate from college than students with low test scores from high-income households,” VonBurg said. “Somewhere along the line, some students aren’t getting the support they need. The mission of the Lyceum Locker it to help bridge that gap.”
To help ensure that all students at the University of Mississippi have the tools to succeed, we invite every member of the Ole Miss family to contribute to this worthy cause and support our students.

“Research clearly shows that without basic needs being met, students will struggle to engage in their coursework which then leads to attrition,” said Assistant Director of Academic Support Programs Rebekah Reysen. “The Lyceum Locker is a crucial resource here on campus that provides students with materials crucial to build a strong foundation for study habits and class and exam performance, which in turn lays a strong foundation for obtaining one's degree.”
When more students have the required materials to excel in their classes, more students will be able to graduate. Every gift to the Lyceum Locker, big or small, plays a role in the future of the Ole Miss family because all contributions impact student resources. We believe in assisting our students by putting the supplies in their hands needed for reaching higher levels of excellence, and your gifts help meet those needs.

Students often need multiple choice forms called Scantrons to take their exams. This gift will help to provide the Scantrons one student will require for the year!
Did you know? In 2020, 67% of students used their emergency aid on school supplies. A gift to the Lyceum Locker will help us provide students with high-quality supplies free of charge.
Students sometimes need to pay for access codes to complete online homework modules and tests. This gift helps provide one student the access code they need to complete their tasks.
The idea for the Lyceum Locker arose while contributing founder Kayla VonBurg was teaching EDHE 202: The Fundamentals of Active Learning. The class – and your gift – helps ensure student success for all!
The University of Mississippi estimates the total cost of textbooks for one full-time student per year is $1,200. You can give one student the books they need to succeed for an entire year!
