Stock our student teachers with the classroom essentials they need to succeed

Every year, about 250 students in the School of Education’s early childhood, elementary, secondary, special, and health and physical education degree programs complete the most important component of their education degrees – their student teaching field experiences. Our students serve in districts across North Mississippi, including Lafayette, Oxford, New Albany, Tupelo, Iuka, Coffeeville, Alcorn, Grenada, Hernando, South Panola … and more!  

In addition to preparing lessons, the preservice teaching phase often requires students to provide their own school supplies – which can be expensive – in order to be successful in the classroom. Students are not paid for their preservice teaching experiences. In fact, they are still responsible for paying tuition. With your help, we will provide the classroom essentials our students need as they begin their student teaching experiences. 

We invite all of our School of Education alumni and friends to help us supply our future teachers by sponsoring an Education Essentials Kit for our student teachers. Each kit contains a foldable, portable canvas tote filled with supplies, such as a tape dispenser, stapler, pens, pencils, dry erase markers, eraser, sticky notes, paper clips, coffee/tea mug and more!

With your gift, you will have the opportunity to write a note of encouragement as our student teachers prepare to enter the classroom. This note may be written to a student of your choice or someone chosen at random.
