Support Your Ole Miss Army ROTC Cadets

Army ROTC Cadets Are Counting on You

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Sheldon Morris, an alumnus of UM's Army ROTC program, spoke to Ole Miss after the 9/11 Memorial Run this fall. Alumni support is crucial to cadet success!

The University of Mississippi Army ROTC Magnolia Battalion cadets rely on scholarships to help them pursue academic excellence while serving their country in the military. Now, you can help contribute to their greatness by giving to the Magnolia Battalion Alumni Scholarship Fund!

The quality of Ole Miss cadets is proved by their awards: the Magnolia Battalion regularly produces distinguished military graduates who rank among the top 20% of their peers nationally. In recent years, several cadets have ranked among the top 25 of all cadets in the nation, and in 2016, one cadet ranked among the top 10.

Ole Miss cadets are involved in almost every club, Greek organization, honors society and student organization on campus, including athletics. They achieve academic excellence through the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, the Croft Institute for International Studies, the Center for Intelligence & Security Studies, Gamma Beta Phi, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Study Abroad, Project Go, Global Ambassadors and more.

All of these cadets are supported by scholarships, funded by either the U.S. military or other sources. We established the Magnolia Battalion Alumni Scholarship Fund to fill funding gaps for cadets whose Army scholarships do not cover all the costs of their education. This includes funding unanticipated shortfalls due to UM programs that have graduation requirements extending beyond the traditional four- or three-year scholarship awarded by the Army, Army Reserves or Army National Guard.

Our UM Army ROTC alumni also commit to help fund the Magnolia Battalion’s activities, training exercises, team building opportunities, and cadet competitions, preparing these future officers to excel in the Army and in life. You may also choose to make a gift that will support cadets' participation in these vital activities.

The Ole Miss Army ROTC program is designed to instill professional leadership competencies that translate to success in both the military and the civilian world. Through the unsurpassed partnership with the University, we look to recruit, develop, retain and commission officers of the highest character, commitment and competence.

Your gifts to the Magnolia Battalion Alumni Scholarship Fund and toward funding our cadet activities ensure our UM Army ROTC cadets receive the support they need to succeed. Please make a gift today!
