"The William Magee Center for AOD and Wellness Education is a place of where students can turn when things get hard and they need help. I am so encouraged that The University of Mississippi offers a place like this for students to come to without fear of judgement and without consequences. This is just one small step in a direction of fostering an environment of health and wellness across this campus and the state of Mississippi."
- Alexis Lee, William Magee Institute Program Manager
The William Magee Center is dedicated to promoting a culture of wellness on campus by offering a range of programs and services related to holistic health, substance use and harm reduction, disordered eating, and body positivity. All students deserve access to resources that support their physical, mental, and emotional health, and The William Magee Center works tirelessly to make those resources available to everyone.
We are seeking donations from individuals and organizations who share their commitment to student well-being. Your contribution will help them continue to offer vital programing and services, such as peer support groups, workshops on harm reduction and substance use prevention, and one-on-one counseling sessions. Your support will help them expand their reach and impact, allowing them to reach even more students with the resources they need to thrive.
By donating to The William Magee Center for AOD & Wellness Education, you will be making a meaningful difference in the lives of University of Mississippi students. We are grateful for any amount you can give and thank you for your support in creating a culture of wellness at our university.
Our Project
Through our Business Planning and Entrepreneurship course, we have the opportunity to put the material we have learned to the test. This is happening in the form of a social entrepreneurship campaign that aims to raise awareness and funding for a cause on campus of our choice. Out of the numerous impactful options available, we have elected to work with the William Magee Center for Wellness Education.
Why The William Magee Center
As graduate students at the University of Mississippi, we have realized the importance of wellness on college campuses. It can be difficult for students to maintain their physical, mental, and emotional health while balancing the challenges of transitioning to adulthood. As we prepare to finish our masters program and depart from Ole Miss, we hope to leave behind a meaningful impact that fosters overall student wellness.
What Your Donation Will Go Towards
There are numerous subsets within the Magee Center, including WellChats, Harm Reduction Kits, Tobacco Cessation, RebelADE, and a Comprehensive Eating Disorder Program. Contributions to our campaign will be used to plan and execute existing and future activities within the organization.
5.1 million young adults have a substance use disorder. In 2019, 9 out of 10 of those did not get help strongly due to the stigma surrounding it.
