The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy will host its second annual Summer Research Experience in 2024. We invite you to invest in the future biomedical workforce by giving to this impactful program to help cover the costs for participating student researchers.
The nine-week program provides students with research opportunities in various areas within the field of pharmaceutical sciences. Participants learn about cutting-edge pharmacy-related topics, develop presentation and communication skills, practice networking skills, and explore and develop their interest in research.
Along with research opportunities, students engage in professional and career development sessions and participate in social activities and team-building exercises.
The school’s biomolecular sciences and pharmacy administration departments each hosted students during the 2023 program. Biomolecular sciences participants worked in the lab setting assisting faculty members with ongoing research projects, while pharmacy administration participants worked in research groups outside of the lab setting.
“It was wonderful getting to know each of the students and I enjoyed their final research presentations, seeing what they’ve been working so hard on in the labs, what they’d learned and what they hoped to take away from the research experience,” said Jessica Crawley, biomolecular science’s operations coordinator.
Students who participated in the 2023 program reported that following their experience, they are now more likely to enroll in a Ph.D. or master’s program in STEM, pursue further STEM research opportunities and enroll in STEM-related courses.

A $250 gift will provide one student with nine weeks of supplies during the summer research program.
A $500 gift will provide two students with nine weeks of professional development sessions.
As you may know, rent in Oxford can be very expensive, even in a dorm room for the summer! A $1,500 gift will provide one student a housing allowance for the length of our summer program and support their success.
Your $5,000 gift will provide one student a stipend for conducting nine weeks of research. These student researchers benefit the University of Mississippi while preparing for a career that can benefit the entire world!
