The Ole Miss Career Closet provides students with professional attire to help them feel their best and launch their careers with confidence, without the stress of financial barriers.
In just the past 18 months, the Career Closet has helped more than 300 students find the perfect outfit for the start of their professional journey. Each student can take home a complete outfit free each semester, and they are provided personalized assistance from a professional who helps navigate sizes, fittings and styling. Students can take advantage of this incredible resource by making an appointment or attending open hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Oxford Center. Every student is eligible to try on and select clothes in a beautiful, welcoming, boutique-like setting.
But we need your help to keep this incredible service accessible to all. By making a gift today, you help us stock more clothing in the most popular sizes, fill unique size gaps, and keep our garments clean and ready to wear. Even some of the most reasonably priced dress shirts can cost at least $40. For many students on a strict budget, that's out of reach. Our Career Closet has dress shirts for men and women to look their professional best. Your $40 gift can provide a dress shirt for a student!
Before the Career Closet had a beautiful permanent location in the South Oxford Center, the Career Center held pop-up boutiques outside their offices in Martindale. From the beginning, the Career Closet has been popular. The first day of the first Career Closet pop-up boutique, 96 students received professional outfits and styling. The new, permanent location allows the Career Center to serve even more students.
A new suit suitable for the office or a professional interview can cost, at minimum, $200. Your gift of $200 can provide a student with a new or gently used suit, tailoring, cleaning and styling.
In the first year of the Career Closet, more than 400 items of high quality, gently used clothing were donated for our students to choose from. While we love your clothing donations, gifts of money also allow us to buy new items in hard-to-find sizes or pay for cleaning.
We recently celebrated the anniversary of the first Career Closet pop-up boutique, which was held on Oct. 1, 2021. For the last three years, we have helped hundreds of students prepare for their professional life after Ole Miss. With your generous gifts, we will help thousands in the years to come!
