Hotty Toddy Tech Pass: Laptop Loan Program
Urgent! 60 Laptops Needed for the 2026-27 Academic Year.
Ole Miss students often use their personal laptops in all classes; from the humanities to engineering classrooms like this one.The first year of the Hotty Toddy Tech Pass, the laptop loan program for Ole Miss students in need, was a huge success. Over the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters, 60 students were able to access laptops to support coursework, communication and overall academic success.
But just as many students who applied for this essential program were left on the waiting list. That's why we need your help!
The Office of Information Technology and Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement launched the program last year in a collaborative effort by faculty and staff members. The initial idea, however, came from a student who watched their peers consistently struggle to access the equipment they needed to succeed in class. That student's care for their fellow classmates became Hotty Toddy Tech Pass.
Students apply online for Hotty Toddy Tech Pass and, when approved, can check out a laptop for the semester. The program began with 25 laptops, but demand quickly exceeded supply. In spring 2026, HTTP offered 40 total laptops.
All 60 students who benefited from the program returned the laptops in good condition, demonstrating strong student accountability.
"This program allowed me to complete much of my homework in an easy and convenient way," said one of the HTTP students. Others praised the ease of the application process and the quality of the equipment offered.
Last year, 60 students who applied did not get off the waiting list. This year, the Office of Information Technology and the CICCE have a goal to buy 60 new laptops before the fall semester begins, bringing HTTP's total to 100 available laptops.
This is where you come in.
Each new laptop costs $800. But there are other costs, too. Software, insurance and repairs when needed will add to HTTP's operating costs. To make sure the Hotty Toddy Tech Pass meets the needs of our students, we're reaching out to donors like you for support!

Our hardware (the laptops) is useless without the right software. Hotty Toddy Tech Pass pre-loads each laptop with the operating software students need to complete their assignments. For a gift of $50, you can cover 50% of the cost of the software loaded onto each laptop. It's an easy way to make a big impact for a student in need!
