Back to School: Hotty Toddy Textbooks
Help Ole Miss Students in Need Access Textbooks!
The cost of a college education extends beyond tuition. For many students, textbooks required for class can add hundreds to the cost of attendance.
Students who cannot afford materials like textbooks may put off buying them, attempt to complete assignments without them or even drop out of classes that they need to graduate. Hotty Toddy Textbooks is working to remove that barrier for Ole Miss students.
This student-led initiative, supported by University Libraries, will provide print and digital textbooks that students can access through the library. The program began with students helping students.
During the spring 2026 semester, Associated Student Body and University of Mississippi Greek organizations hosted textbook drives across campus. Ole Miss students responded by donating more than 150 used print textbooks to help their classmates.
Those donations provide a strong foundation, but student-donated books alone cannot meet the need. Courses, editions and required materials change regularly. Our library must continue expanding and updating the collection so that students can access the textbooks their classes require.
Digital textbooks are an important part of that effort. Although they often cost significantly more than print books, digital materials can broaden access and provide additional accessibility options for students. Gifts from alumni, friends and the community will help the university purchase and license both print and digital textbooks for the program.
Your support can help an Ole Miss student begin class with the materials needed to participate fully, complete assignments and pursue academic success.

$50
Provide One Book
Your gift of $50 will provide one print book for one student this fall. Print books, on average, are cheaper than digital textbooks. But it's common for academic textbooks to cost $50 or more, which can be too expensive for students on a tight budget. Give today to buy a student a book!
$100
Two Print Books
Although prices vary, your gift of $100 should cover the cost of two print books for a student in need. When students are able to get all the books they need for class, they improve their grades and retain the material better. Give to supply two print books today!
$300
One Digital Book
While digital textbooks are more expensive than traditional print books, they offer additional features and accessibility that can make them invaluable for our students. Give $300 to help provide digital access to course materials!
$600
Two Digital Books
Two is better than one! A gift of $600 provides access to two digital textbooks and course materials for our students.
$1,500
Hotty Toddy Hero
With a generous gift, you can provide a haul of multiple textbooks for our Ole Miss students this year. When students have the materials they need to understand their courses, we can help them build a foundation for success!
