A Race to Assist Our Veterans
When the chequered flag is waved to start the exciting AmTrykes in Action Race, wheels will be turning as fast as drivers can make them go — all to raise money and draw attention to deserving veterans. The Department of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation at the University of Mississippi is partnering with the National AMBUCS Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, to produce this meaningful event benefiting veterans with disabilities.
The highly competitive event — yet friendly and tons of fun — honors and assists our deeply committed veterans by presenting them with AmTrykes (adaptive tricycles). Participating teams will race AmTrykes around the Lyceum Circle at Ole Miss, completing 75 laps for the fastest time. Every $850 in contributions raised purchases an AmTryke, which will be donated to selected disabled veterans at the end of the race. Please consider supporting this race to bring attention and AmTrykes to many veterans in need.

3rd Annual AmTrykes in Action Race
When: April 21, 2018 @ 4:00 p.m.
Where: The Lyceum Circle on the Ole Miss Campus
We’re looking for eight-person teams to register and compete in the relay race. Your $100 team registration fee goes toward the purchase of AmTrykes. If you're interested in participating, register through the link here. In addition to the race, participants and the public can enjoy bluegrass music from Memphis group GrassFire, food and refreshments, GoArmy obstacle courses, corn hole, and opportunities to meet veterans set to receive AmTrykes after the race!
Your help is needed!
By partnering with AMBUCS, we are able to provide AmTrykes to local veterans and military families. We are also able to purchase the AmTrykes for $850 which is a 40 percent discount from the retail price of $1,200. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase and donate a minimum of 10 AmTrykes. All proceeds from this Ignite Ole Miss campaign and the race will be used to purchase the special bikes. But to reach this ambitious goal, we are calling of everyone to provide support.
What are AmTrykes?
AmTryke, LLC is fully owned and operated by National AMBUCS, Inc., a nationwide nonprofit charity dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. AMBUCS believes the enjoyment and freedom of riding your own bike is something everyone should have the opportunity to experience. People who are unable to operate a traditional bike can now share this experience, thanks to the design of an AmTryke.
Riders with disabilities often struggle to bring a bicycle up to speed quickly enough to stay upright. The AmTryke operates from a tricycle platform to help a rider feel balanced and secure. AmTryke riders will increase cardio function, build strength and experience the outdoors in a new way, all of which can impact overall health and fitness — not to mention the opportunity to ride with family and friends! AmTrykes can be hand or foot powered and provide the stability and support often required for a veteran to return to outdoor bike riding.

Thank You!
We are deeply grateful for your consideration to support the Third Annual AmTrykes in Action Race and to share our message. Together, we can make a difference in helping America's veterans. The race is on!
I received my Tryke about two years ago. It has really been a blessing to me because I have lower back problems. I can ride it with ease and it enables me to get leg strengthening exercise and cardio without much pressure on my back. I have always loved riding bikes but never thought I would be able to ride again because of the angle and uncomfortable position the bikes would put me in. I enjoyed the whole event, meeting you all, the bike race, and Ole Miss. I will forever be grateful and treasure your gift, making it possible for me to enjoy this sport again.
Eternally grateful,
SFC Collins (Retired)

Did you know there are 3.8 million disabled veterans in the world? Let's get every veteran an AmTryke and get them involved in recreation once again!
Veteran's Day, recognized every November 11, honors America's Veterans for their service to their country. The day was chosen to recognize Armistice Day, or the end of World War I, which occurred on the 11th month on the 11th day at the 11th hour.
In December of 2017, it was reported that there are 1,281,900 men and women serving in the U.S. military. Let's show them how much they mean to us!
This level lets us honor all of our military men and women who fought bravely, but unfortunately, did not make it home.
With your generous contribution, we can provide an AmTryke to one deserving veteran to help them better enjoy outdoor recreation.
With your generous gift, we can provide an AmTryke to two deserving veterans.
With your generous gift, we can provide an AmTryke to three deserving veterans.
With this generous donation, we will be able to purchase 6 AmTrykes for six deserving veterans and will allow this event to operate again in 2019!
