On Jan. 3, junior engineering student Chanler watched his family's home burn to the ground in less than 30 minutes. Like most students home for the holidays, Chanler was preparing to return to Ole Miss for the spring semester. After the loss of his home, he had no school supplies, books, backpack, or clothing. Imagine yourself in the shoes of someone like Chanler. How would you recover?
The Ole Miss Family Emergency Fund exists as a safety net for students like Chanler who may experience an unexpected tragedy or life event. It is important to everyone at the university that these events don’t derail our students from their course work. This campaign to grow the Family Emergency Fund will allow us to maximize our efforts to keep students on the path to graduation by giving the vice chancellor of student affairs the ability to award micro-grants to students during their time of need.
Created in 2012, the emergency fund has already helped a number of students who faced personal crises. By making a donation, you are giving these students the opportunity to remain enrolled so they can reach their academic goals.
At Ole Miss, we are family and the strength of our university lies in our commitment to each other. We are a community of Rebels who take care of our own, and those values are at the core of this campaign. This year’s Mr. and Miss Ole Miss, William Kneip and Mary Elizabeth Kakales, have joined together to raise funds and social awareness for this deserving cause.

With your donation, students will be able to restock their book bags with needed supplies such as pencils, pens, and notebooks. These items are essential to a student's success!
With your donation, students living locally will be able to drive home to be with their family during an emergency.
Students who are able to focus on their education are more likely to graduate. With your donation of $100, students can remain focused on their education and graduate on time.
Students affected by fire often need all of their belongings replaced in order to continue in school. With your donation, a student can purchase books to continue enrollment. Individuals making a $250 donation will receive a signed poster from athletics as a thank you!
Unfortunately, some Ole Miss students are affected by the loss of a parent each year. With your donation, a student can cover travel expenses incurred in returning home to be surrounded by loved ones during the time of the crisis. Donors at this level will receive a signed football as a token of appreciation.
With your generous contribution, a student can have living expenses paid after a personal tragedy. Donors at this level will receive a signed football and a lunch reception with Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Brandi Hephner LaBanc and Ole Miss Athletic Director Ross Bjork.
